A Nod To Claude
Claude Dablon, French explorer and Jesuit priest, was one of the first Europeans to arrive in Michigan when it was still a part of New France in the 1600s. Father Dablon was known for making wine from grapes he found in the New World. It is our goal to marry European varietals with our unique terroir in Southwest Michigan to make a variety of extraordinary wines.
Our Wines
Dablon wines are estate grown, produced, and bottled. We also produce and bottle wine for the Music Box Theatre of Chicago, one of the world’s most beautiful cinemas.

Dablon Vineyards was named #8 Tasting Room by USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards and it is an honor to be selected. Of the top ten, eight are in Pacific Ocean states, one is from the state of New York, and Dablon of Michigan is the only one on glacier-created hills located five miles from Lake Michigan, the largest freshwater lake within the boundaries of any country in the world. “We created our Tasting Room to provide customers with an environment and experience that matches the quality of our world-class wine made from world-class grapes we grow here. Along with the other fine wineries in our State we want to help Michigan earn its place on the national wine stage,” commented Dablon owner William Schopf. Believing that a comfortable, elegant tasting room with a knowledgeable staff can elevate the entire wine tasting experience, USA TODAY went out to find the best spots for sipping and asked a panel of wine industry experts to nominate their top 20 tasting rooms across the country. This list was then pared down to the top 10 after 4 weeks of daily online voting for one nominee per category, per day.
